History
The Vilafranca Roller Club, currently known as Digittecnic Vilafranca Capital del Vi thanks to its sponsor, is a benchmark in the world of roller hockey in Vilafranca del Penedès. Founded in 1970, the club has experienced moments of great success throughout its history, consolidating itself as a sports entity with great projection and a history full of overcome challenges. It currently competes in the OK Lliga, the highest category of state hockey.
The first big step came in 1972, when Club Patí Vilafranca achieved its first promotion from the Second to the First Division. Although it could not materialize for economic reasons, the club's determination remained intact. Thus, the definitive promotion to the First Division occurred in the 1975-76 season, consolidating itself in the category and achieving promotion to the Division of Honor three years later, in 1978-79.
Although the club only remained in the top flight for one season, it continued to work towards returning to the top flight. The next promotion came in the 1987–88 season, although it was again temporary. From the 1990s, the club stabilized between the OK League and the First Division, alternating between categories until consolidating itself back in the OK League in several seasons.
Club Patí Vilafranca's most notable moment to date has been their runner-up finish in the CERS Cup in the 2015-16 season, where they were defeated by OC Barcelos. This success solidified the club as a formidable rival in Europe and marked a high point in their history, with two consecutive CERS Cup semi-finals in 1997-98 and 1998-99.
